Original diagram — start and finish positions.

How to do it

  1. Start in a high plank: hands slightly wider than your shoulders, body straight from head to heels.
  2. Bend your elbows to lower your chest towards the floor, elbows angled back.
  3. Lower as far as you can while keeping your body straight.
  4. Push the floor away to return to the plank.

Form tips

  • Brace as if someone is about to poke your tummy.
  • Quality over quantity — stop the set when your form slips.

Common mistakes

  • Sagging hips.
  • Half reps.

Easier and harder

Make it easier

Kneeling or incline press-ups.

Make it harder

Slow the lowering to four seconds, or raise your feet on a step.
