Yoga and pilates are both listed by the NHS as muscle-strengthening activities, and the NHS also suggests relaxing activities such as yoga and tai chi for menopause symptoms. Mobility work keeps everyday movement easy.

Pilates

Pilates focuses on balance, posture, strength and flexibility. For people with stress incontinence, the NHS says pilates strengthens core muscles and suggests it as an alternative to high-impact exercise.

Yoga

Yoga builds strength and flexibility and can be as calm or as challenging as you like. Choose a class level that suits you and tell the teacher about any health conditions or pregnancy.

Mobility and stretching

Short, regular sessions beat one long stretch a week. Our mobility routines move every joint through a comfortable range and finish with longer, relaxed holds.

Free classes

The NHS Fitness Studio has free pilates and yoga videos, including beginners' pilates and chair-based pilates.
